When I was 5, I thought everyone should have a favorite thing for everything, so here’s my list of favorites:
My favorite chocolate is Kinder. (Fun fact: even though it’s a German word, the brand is actually Italian.)
My favorite color is yellow. Nowadays, I just love how bright it is and the energy it has, but when I picked yellow as my favorite color, it was because it was the color of gold and things that shine/sparkle.
My favorite Disney princess is Cinderella. I love that we share the “Ella” part of our names, and she was very important to me when I was a toddler. But as a kid, my favorites were Tiana and Rapunzel.
My favorite place in the world is Angra dos Reis, a city about two hours from Rio de Janeiro.
My favorite movie is 10 Things I Hate About You. My favorite TV show is probably Outlander, and my favorite artist is definitely Justin Bieber.
My favorite holiday is New Year’s, most specifically the last 10 minutes of the “old year” + the first 10 minutes of the “new year.” My second favorite is Easter, even though I’m not very religious, which makes me feel a little guilty for liking this holiday so much.
I always thought my favorite food was fettuccine with shrimp and a looooot of cheese. But recently, one of my best friends pointed out that, in the five years she’s known me, she’s probably seen me eating that meal twice. So I guess nowadays it might be Tex-Mex? Or… just cheese. :)
My favorite animal in general is the giraffe. In Portuguese, giraffe is “girafa,” and if we separate that, “Gi” is my sister’s (Giovanna’s) nickname and “Rafa” is mine, so it kind of became a thing in our house and a big thing in my heart. (Fun fact: I only have one tattoo, and it is a giraffe’s silhouette.) But if I want to be more specific, my favorite animal would be Luck, the Pomeranian my dad gifted me for my 13th birthday. Luck picked my mom as his favorite human, but that’s okay, because he is still my favorite dog.
I consider myself the most romantic person alive, or at least part of the global 1% of most romantic people. I love everything that has romance in it: books, films, music, and art in general. And this is probably my favorite trait of my personality.
I hate flowers. Maybe this is the only trait of my personality that people wouldn’t read as romantic, but I honestly don’t think it’s connected at all. I do love romantic gestures; I just hate flowers. But, as a 5-year-old who thought we needed favorite things for everything, my favorite flowers would be sunflowers and daisies. (I like them as art, in pictures, or on clothing and mugs.)
In case you didn’t notice, this list has 11 items, and that’s because my favorite number is 2. But a list with only two items wouldn’t work for this assignment, so I made it 11. 1 + 1 = 2.
